WHAT HAPPENS ON SUNDAYS?
What if I'm not a "Church Goer"?
That's fine. You'll find that the services are in language that anyone can understand: whether you just "walk in off the street", or have been a church-goer for years. If you come along, you'll discover people from all ages and backgrounds who want to meet with God and listen to what He has to say to us.
What actually happens?
Because we come to listen to what God has to say to us, teaching the Bible, in a clear and relevant way, lies at the heart of what we do together on Sundays. We tend to look at books of the Bible, as we think this approach touches the whole of life. God doesn't miss anything. He speaks to every area of our lives, through His unchanging, ever-relevant word the Bible.
We also meet together to praise God in song and speak to God in prayer. Because we are a church family, with people of all ages, our praise is a blend of traditional and contemporary.
What about my children?
Children are a highly valued part of our church family. So, towards the beginning of the service, children up to Primary 7 have a children's slot. Then they, together with young people of Secondary School age, move on to age-specific programmes of their own. Sometimes everyone stays together and we have an "all-age service".
What should I wear?
Don't worry about what to wear: however you feel comfortable will be fine. It's not a priority for us, or for God. God is interested in our hearts, not our clothes (1 Samuel 16:7).
When do you meet?
Our worship time is 11.00am. We also meet on the 1st and 3rd evenings of the month at 6.30pm, from September to May. Our evenings are a mixture of more conventional worship times, as well as discussion groups, where we "think through" what God is saying to us in His word.
Whatever age you are, whatever background you come from, you will find a really warm welcome in 2nd Dromara.
